Painted by Alan Holt, renowned aviation artist and WWII RAF pilot himself, this oil on board depicts Johnnie Johnson's Mk IX Spitfire in flight.Air Vice Marshal James Edgar Johnson CB, CBE, DSO & Two Bars, DFC & Bar (1915-2001), Johnnie Johnson was the RAF's most decorated fighter pilot in WWII. As commanding officer of Kenley Wing, the aircraft bears his initials.
Signed on the reverse by Johnnie Johnson, the painting came directly from his estate.
Framed in grey wood with cream canvas mount.
