A vintage toast or letter rack in excellent condition featuring 7 pairs of golf clubs and decorative golf balls as feet.
The Superior Silver Plate Company is thought to have originated as the Middletown Plate Company from Middletown, Connecticut, incorporated in 1866. They became part of the International Silver Company in 1899 and the name changed to the Superior Silver Plate Co.
The Superior line was subsequently transferred to the Wilcox Silver Plate Company and Wilcox used the Superior S.P, Co. trade mark until 1941.
This piece could date from c. 1920.
