Painting by the renowned aviation artist, Norman Edward Hoad (1923-2014) of two Hawker Hurricanes over southern England. Oil on canvas in a giltwood frame with a sticker on the reverse for the Kronfeld Aviation Art Society, a precursor of the Guild of Aviation Artists of which he was one of the founder members with Frank Wootton and David Shepherd, this dates the oil to the late 1950s or the1960s. Norman Hoad was a career officer in the RAF, he was shot down in October 1944, imprisoned in Stalag Luft III where he developed his artistic talent and retired in 1978 as an Air Vice Marshall.
